Attorney Profile
In addition to Ms. Self's successes as an immigration law advocate, Ms. Self gained extensive experience assisting in the defense of high-profile criminal matters as a law clerk for Paul F. Callan of Callan, Koster, Brady & Brennan LLP in New York City. While in law school, Ms. Self was selected to serve as a Certified Prosecutor for the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office. While working in this capacity, she prosecuted criminal cases with full responsibility for pre-complaint screening, arraignment, bail hearings, detentions, interviewing witnesses, discovery and motion practice, plea negotiations, trial, and disposition. Ms. Self also did volunteer work with Suffolk Law School's Battered Women's Advocacy Program. Fluent in Spanish, Ms. Self has a broad base of knowledge in international and cross-cultural issues. She studied international human rights law in Lund, Sweden in 2002, and also spent a year in Madrid, Spain at the College of International Studies studying economics of the European Union. Prior to founding Rachel M. Self, P.C., Ms. Self received significant immigration and criminal defense experience as an associate with a Boston based law firm. In addition, Self also gained civil litigation experience as a law clerk and associate with a Boston defense litigation firm. This experience included claims involving construction law, professional negligence, products liability, toxic torts, medical malpractice and premises liability. |
